After the program

Sober is the floor. Not the house.

Detox got it out of your body. The program gave you structure. Then they handed you back your life — the same one you were using to get through.

Addiction aftercare

The substance was the solution.

To something. A nervous system that would not come down. A body that hurt. A version of you that could not stand the room without help. Take the solution away and the problem is still there, waiting at 5 p.m.

Aftercare works on what the substance was solving: the body that cannot settle, the identity that was built around using or around not using, and the life that has to be worth staying present for.

This works alongside your program, sponsor, or clinician. It is not detox and it is not a replacement for treatment.

Who this is for

  • Thirty days, ninety, three years. The white-knuckle never let go.
  • You swapped one thing for another — work, sugar, scrolling, a person.
  • The meetings help. They do not reach the body.
  • Your body still reaches for it at the same hour every day.
  • You relapsed and you are done being ashamed about it. You want to know why.
  • You are sick of “in recovery” being the whole of who you are.

You got out. Now you want a life you do not need to leave.

Who this is not for

You are actively using and want this instead of treatment. Get safe and get detoxed first — then come back.

You want someone to blame. Love and presence, yes. Victim as a lifestyle — go home.

Say where you are, in a few lines.
